Green Lizard Landscape LLC was established in 2006 with the belief that high desert landscaping can and should be beautiful, water efficient, low maintenance and designed with plant material that thrives in our region.
We are the only landscape company in Carson City that has a certified arborist on staff. Both owners have Certified Nursery Worker certificates, and we encourage all employees to obtain certification as well. Everyone is trained in proper ANSI standards and sustainable horticultural practices. This ensures that all plant material is chosen, handled, planted and maintained correctly.
As client desires and site needs vary, this presents an opportunity to design a unique landscape every time. It is our goal to create a special landscape for each client.
We strive for environmental sustainability throughout all aspects of our business. In addition to onsite installation practices we: Recycle greenwaste at Full Circle Compost; plant pots are returned to the nurseries where they will be reused; cardboard, plastics and aluminum are recycled. Only organic fertilizers are used; for the benefit of the soil, plants, and waterways.

Why your plants will thrive in Nevada with Green Lizard Landscape
In order to have a healthy plant you must start at the bottom. Nevada soil is extremely hard and deficient in nutrients and minerals. We start by breaking up the soil, and amending in the entire planting area, not just the planting hole. This allows roots to grow out and thrive.
Irrigation is the next important step. Our drip irrigation systems provide an equal wetting zone around the entire rootball, allowing faster establishment and growth. Also creating a larger root mass leads to better drought resistance, which means you can irrigate less often.
Finally our integrated maintenance cycles apply fertilizer at even intervals, resulting in consistent healthy growth.

Xeriscaping, pronounced (ZEER-i-scape) is a type of landscaping that focuses on water conservation and provides beautiful and practical solutions.
Xeriscaping has seven basic principals:
1) Planning and design. An effective design uses less water by grouping plants with the same water requirements, and creates a visually interesting landscape.
2) Efficient irrigation systems, properly designed and maintained. This can be as simple as having the trees operate on a separate drip line than the shrubs. Adding emitters as the plants grow will add dramatic growth.
3) Use of mulch. Mulch can work wonders for a landscape. It helps keep soil cool in the summer, warmer in the winter, retains soil moisture, and suppresses weeds.
4) Soil preparation. Tilling and amending the soil before any planting is an essential part of the process for long term plant success.
5) Appropriate turf. Xeriscaping doesn't mean no lawn. Think about the purpose of having a lawn before you install one. If the only time you walk on your lawn is to mow it, you don't need it.
6) Water-efficient plant material. There is a wide variety of native and regionally appropriate plant material that can flower and blend into any neighborhood.
7) Appropriate maintenance. There is no such thing as a no maintenance yard. The majority of xeriscape landscapes are easily maintained with four times per year organic fertilization and minimal pruning.
